Okay, so the economy isn’t shining brilliantly right now. But I think you would agree with me that the rain is finally starting to let up. That being said, it’s time to begin thinking about a shift. Not just “ramping up” the same way we always have, but stepping up.
Seeking purposeful growth. Being intentional.
That means taking a hard look at how we’re working and, more importantly, who we’re working with if we’re serious about achieving what we say are our strategic goals for 2025.
First, let’s define a client. Or what a client is NOT. If you don’t have 100% of wallet share, they are not a client. They are a prospect – pure and simple. That may hurt a bit, but it’s the truth.
And while we’re being honest with each other, culture isn’t a side effect. You don’t get the team you want – the culture you desire – by default. Culture is the foundation, not the frosting. Build it intentionally. Let it shape how you hire, talk to each other, and show up in the marketplace. Otherwise, culture will just happen and it won’t be what you want.
Do good things happen? Surprises? Of course they do. But that’s no excuse to just wing it. Random is not a strategy. You need a plan. Or maybe even two. Strategy always comes before tactics. ALWAYS. Plan the trip before you get in the car.
Can we talk about artificial intelligence? Why? Because it’s everywhere and seems to dominate every conversation. People are jumping into it because everyone else is. But is that a good reason? You should investigate AI. Decide how it might work for you. And then deploy it. But do so with intention.
You won’t find anyone in companies large or small debating over whether training is important. But it usually is focused on new employees. Training isn’t just for new hires. Onboarding is crucial; employees just joining the organization must know how, what, why, and when. But what about those who have been with the company for a while? The veterans? The loyal ones? When is the last time they were stretched or sharpened? Learning never stops. Nor does growth. Either everyone is on the path, or no one is.
When it’s all said and done, the name of the game is to stay curious. Flexible. Intentional. Staying plugged into the voices around you – your team, your clients, and your gut. We know that business ebbs and flows. Let’s quit plodding through the ebb and move towards the flow. This is the moment to paddle out into the deep. The next big wave is on the horizon. It’s coming. Go out to meet it. Intentionally.
