You have probably seen the message going around the staffing industry — your next client will be found by AI. Buyers will ask ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or [insert your favorite AI tool here], and if the tool does not know your staffing firm, you will never get the call or even consideration. No, you will never even know you lost.
The recommended fix, conveniently, is to start building your AI visibility right now. And, also conveniently, to do it on the AI platform being sold in the very same message.
But here’s the uncomfortable part. The first sentence of that last paragraph is true. Buyers are starting to ask AI who they should trust. Getting found in this new digital age is a real problem that must be solved.
The part about AI is a fair observation.
The part about the solution is a sales pitch.
Some marketing firms in our industry have (not so) quietly turned themselves into software companies. Their growth now depends on selling seats to an AI platform. So, of course, they will tell you AI is the solution to getting found. And the cure they recommend is the tool they happen to sell.
But the deeper weakness here is the one their pitch never mentions. AI can only repeat the story that already exists about you. If every staffing firm in your market hands its marketing to the same platform and feeds it the same prompts, the platform learns to describe all of you in the same way. The solution that was supposed to make you stand out makes everyone sound identical.
You don’t escape a sea of sameness by buying the same platform your competitors just bought. That’s how you end up described in the same line as every other staffing firm in town (which was exactly the outcome the sales pitch warned you about).
At TerraFirma, we use AI to help build your reputation.
We don’t hand your reputation over to it.
So, get found. Build real authority in your specialty. Build positioning that you, and you alone, actually own. Build proof from real clients and real outcomes. But build it with a partner who came out of staffing and keeps human judgment in the loop. There’s a real difference between a marketing company that uses AI as a tool and a software company that wants you to run your brand on autopilot with little human oversight.
