There’s a promise in marketing making the rounds that is almost impossible to turn down. Fast and easy. All in one package! Who would not want that? But when interpreted correctly, it’s actually a warning.
“Good marketing can be fast and easy!”
It sure sounds great. Every staffing owner/executive is busy. A pitch like this that makes marketing quick to produce and simple to run sounds exactly like what the times call for.
Boxes checked.
Problems solved.
Clients acquired.
Candidates found.
But the truth is that “fast and easy” is exactly how commodities are made. You can’t have both and still stand out. Standing out takes the opposite approach.
What is it that actually makes a prospect choose you over your competitors? A point of view nobody else is offering. A message built on who you really serve. Proof from real clients and real relationships.
None of that is fast. Or easy. It takes real work and judgment. The fast and easy version skips through all of that. It hands you something to post, not something to be remembered for.
The marketing that makes you forgettable is always the easy kind. That is the trade that no one mentions. Speed and ease come from sameness. From the same template that works for anyone. From the shortcut that asks nothing of you.
The faster and easier a piece of marketing is to produce, the more it looks and sounds like everyone else’s, because the only way to make marketing that fast is to strip out the part that belongs only to you.
Fast and easy gets you content.
Patient and deliberate gets you a brand.
Only one of them gets remembered.
None of this means wasting money or moving slowly when speed is truly an advantage. Be fast on the scheduling, the production, and the busywork no one should labor over. But the message itself, the positioning, and the story are where the real work belongs. Decide what you want to be known for. Say something true that competitors cannot lift. Do the part that the shortcut leaves out. It doesn’t have to cost a fortune, but it does have to be yours.
Everyone is chasing fast and easy right now. The market is full of marketing that was quick to make and impossible to remember. That is your opening. Be the staffing firm willing to do the hard work, because that’s the only thing that puts your name in a prospect’s head when the need finally hits.
